The Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku Engineering University (BEU) and the “State Program 2019-2023” Management Group have jointly organized a webinar on "Perspectives of civil engineering in Azerbaijan: career options for civil engineering graduates" to promote engineering specialties in the country.
The main purpose of the webinar was to discuss the future prospects of civil engineering, the development of this specialty in Azerbaijan, as well as provide detailed information on admission to the international dual degree program in Civil Engineering by BEU and Inha University of the Republic of Korea.
The event, moderated by Tarlan Abbasova, a specialist in dual degree programs at the State Program Management Group, gave detailed information on the “State Program to Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023”.
Arzu Imanli, a graduate of the “State Program 2007-2015”and currently working as a civil engineer at “Mott MacDonald”, spoke at the event. Touching upon the importance of experience in professional companies, A.Imanli said that students would develop a professional network, apply the theory learned at the university and learn their specialties from professionals in this field.
Arzu Imanli spoke about her experience at Scansa, as well as starting her career as a road and infrastructure engineer at “Mott MacDonald”. Emphasizing career choices for civil engineering graduates, the speaker said that the field of civil engineering was very large and spoke in detail about several areas, including Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transport Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Project Infrastructure Engineering.
Humay Jafarli, Director General of BEU-INHA Dual Degree Program, said that a number of projects were implemented to provide Azerbaijani citizens with quality education within the higher education standards of leading countries. She noted that one of these projects was the "State Program on increasing the international competitiveness of the higher education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023" and added that the dual degree program between Inha University of South Korea and BEU was implemented within this project. H.Jafarli added that the main goal of the program was to train a new generation of specialists in the field of engineering in Azerbaijan, meeting the requirements of the XXI century, using the most advanced scientific achievements, innovative teaching and learning technologies. In his speech, he informed the participants about the admission to the program, the conduct of exams, the required documents and the benefits of the program.
