Members of Public Council under Ministry of Science and Education visit BEU

Members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education have visited Baku Engineering University (BEU).

First, flowers were laid in front of the bust of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the university building, and the unforgettable memory of the Great Leader was commemorated with deep respect and reverence.

At the meeting with the members of the Council, Rector Yagub Piriyev expressed his satisfaction with seeing the guests at BEU and provided detailed information on the steps taken for the establishment, structure, and development of the higher education institution. Touching upon the positive results of the reforms carried out in recent years, the Rector drew attention to the increase in the university's student admission plan this year, the full filling of places in the newly opened specialties, and the positive dynamics in the number of high-scoring applicants and foreign students choosing BEU. Speaking about the university's international relations, Yagub Piriyev said that BEU was included for the first time in the "QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025" announced last month, and it had also moved up 60 places in the ranking of the best higher education institutions in Europe, rising to 491st position.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Public Council Hikmet Alizada highly appreciated the combination of teaching and practice at BEU, the conditions created for the development of modern skills of students, and the presence of modern laboratories. Hikmet Alizada noted that the recent work done at the university has been positively received by public opinion, calling the further improvement of the quality of teaching at BEU, the increased attention to student-oriented projects, and the strengthening of the university's positions in international rankings a great achievement.

Later, extensive discussions were held with the members of the Public Council on today's goals of higher education, its response to new challenges, and other issues. Moreover, clarifications were provided to the questions of the Council members on a number of points.

Following the discussions, the members of the Public Council visited the Cybersecurity and other laboratories of the university, including the Technopark, and got acquainted with the conditions created here and the students' startups.
