The next meeting of the Steering Committee on the dual degree program (DDP) implemented between Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Inha University of the Republic of Korea has been held.
Korean representatives joined the meeting attended by Steering Committee members from both countries online.
Speaking at the opening speech, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev noted that 61 of the 385 students currently studying under the program are continuing their IV course at Inha University, and that they will return to our country in the summer months as the first graduates of BEU-INHA DDP. The rector mentioned that a few days ago, the State Examination Center organized a master's degree entrance exam in online format for these students studying at INHA University. Y.Piriyev noted, "Organizing the entrance exam for Azerbaijani students studying abroad went down in history as the first event. They took the exam online using the halls and computers provided by INHA University. The software for conducting the exam was developed by the specialists of the State Examination Center. On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to all the people who contributed to the organization of the exam, to the employees of INHA". He added that the works related to the faculty training planned for the teaching staff within the framework of the DDP are nearing completion.
Conveying sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Inha University, Yagub Piriyev wished success to the higher educational institution in its future activities. Furthermore, he expressed his confidence that BEU-INHA cooperation will continue and that a number of important decisions will be made at the end of the fruitful discussions at the meeting of the Steering Committee.
Expressing his gratitude for the kind words and sincere congratulations addressed to Inha, Choi Keeyoung, vice-rector for academic affairs of Inha, co-chairman of the Steering Committee, pointed out that they are interested in continuing the cooperation established with BEU. Expressing that he is proud that 61 students currently studying in Korea are students of both BEU and Inha, the co-chairman pointed out that they are doing everything they can to grow up as strong specialists.
Then Humay Jafarli, director general of BEU-INHA DDP, gave a broad presentation on the directions included in the agenda.
The financial report of 2023, the academic results of the fall semester for the academic year 2023/2024, the calendar of activities to be held in 2024, changing the re-examination criteria, the curriculum of the program and other issues were discussed at the meeting. Advisor to the Minister of Science and Education Nijat Mammadli, Director of the State Agency for Vocational Education Jeyhun Karamov, Head of the State Program Management Group Turan Topalova and others spoke about the directions included in the agenda. In the meeting where the relevant decisions were taken, it was agreed to review some issues and the voiced proposals in a short period of time.
The issue of changing the co-chairman of the BMU Steering Committee was also discussed at the meeting, and the appointment of Hamzaga Orujov, vice-rector for educational affairs, to this position was approved by voting.
It should be noted that the meetings of the Steering Committee are held twice a year, in the autumn and spring sessions. The previous meeting was held in Korea.
