Event Dedicated to Independence, Constitution and Sovereignty Held at BEU

An educational event dedicated to October 18 - Independence Restoration Day, as well as the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" was organized for students at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

At the event, Head of the General Disciplines Department Humeyra Mustafayeva spoke about the significance of October 18 for the Azerbaijani people. She noted that the restoration of Azerbaijan's state independence in 1991 was a triumph of our people's aspirations for freedom, a manifestation of national self-awareness and the statehood's entry into a new stage. The preservation and strengthening of independence became possible as a result of the far-sighted policy and wise leadership of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, and the political line he determined was successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. The department head emphasized that educating young people loyal to the Motherland and national ideals during the independence period is one of the main duties of every higher education institution.

Subsequently, presentations prepared by students to familiarize themselves with their perspectives, worldviews and knowledge on the topic were heard. Students of the "Design" specialty Laman Safarli, Gulsura Ahmadzade and Fidan Mammadzade spoke in their presentations about the difficult and glorious stages of Azerbaijan's path to independence, its historical significance, the socio-political events of the 1990s, as well as the strengthening of the national liberation movement against the backdrop of the Karabakh conflict. Particular emphasis was placed on the exceptional role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the formation of independent Azerbaijan, the strengthening of state-building, and the establishment of the principles of a legal state and civil society. In the subsequent stage, the perpetuation of state independence under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the full restoration of our territorial integrity and sovereignty, and our victorious country's gaining great prestige in the international arena were highlighted.

During the continuation of the event, Associate Professor of the department Khagan Balayev delivered a presentation on the topic "Constitution and Sovereignty." The presentation extensively discussed the political freedoms, social, economic, cultural and other rights reflected in the Constitution, as well as the role played by the supreme law in the formation of the principles of separation of powers and the rule of law.

In conclusion, participants noted that such events play an important role in promoting national and spiritual values and in the patriotic education of young people.
