Material and technical base of BEU renewed

Baku Engineering University (BEU) is taking consistent measures to strengthen the material and technical base of educational departments in the field of ICT and to develop e-learning resources. As a continuation of the works done to equip the laboratories and individual auditoriums of the University with the latest equipment, new smart boards, monoblocks, computers, laptops, projectors, multifunctional printers, etc. were purchased.

It should be noted that the specialties of Process Automation, Electroenergetics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering at the newly established Department of Automation and Electroenergetics at BEU are closely related to computer technology. Teachers and laboratory assistants of the department have enough skills and knowledge to perform various laboratory works in these specialties with modern equipment.

There is ample opportunity for downloading the important programs for updated computers, including Labview program (Basics of Measurement Techniques), Matlab program (Basics of Regulatory Techniques, Digital Signal Processing, System Analysis, Identification Systems, Power Distribution), Multisim Program (Digital Electronics, Analog Electronics, Power Electronics, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering), as well as AutoCad Electric (including P&ID) (drawing of course projects and supply schemes for electrical engineering and power engineering), P&ID Design (a tool used for drawing diagrams and schemes of automation of various technological processes). Moreover, the interpreters of the Python and R programming languages used in System Engineering are also used in Deep learning and Machine learning through the Python programming language. The new computers have 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of hard disk memory, and a microprocessor based on a 7-core X86-64 architecture.

The CCS C programming language used to program microcontrollers will also be written on computers. The Labview 2019 program will use elective subjects to automate measurement processes. It is also planned to download a package of tools that allow programming of TIA (totally integrated automation) systems for programming of programmable logic controllers. This package also includes SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition). With the help of this program, it is planned to use technological processes in the design of supervisory control systems.

Another program will allow Factory I / O – Digital Twin technology to be used to automate processes.

It should be noted that the academic versions of all the above-mentioned programs will be taught.

Providing the updated more modern equipment with various programs will increase the number of projects implemented in the artificial intelligence student research laboratory.

The newly purchased equipment covers 70-80% of the subjects taught at the Department of Computer and Information Technology. Computer programming languages, application software and operating systems are based on the latest versions.
