A seminar and information session “Open Data: The driving force of innovation and digitalization” was jointly organized by the Technopark and the Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

The event, held in English as part of the “Open Data” project of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, provided students with information about the concept of “Open Data”, its application, and its importance for innovation and digital development.

The main speaker of the event, Mikhail Parfentev shared his successful experience in managing IT products and public-private sector cooperation for more than 11 years as an international expert on the promotion and use of “Open Data”. He also spoke about his close cooperation with organizations such as the World Bank, the Open Data Institute (UK), Gartner, as well as with world-leading experts on “Open Data” - Joel Gurin (Open Data Now) and Andrew Stott.

During the session, the main principles of "Open Data", global and local areas of use, the development of "Open Data" projects in Azerbaijan, as well as its benefits in various fields were analyzed. Moreover, the methods of approaching future innovative projects and startup ideas through the use of "Open Data" were explained.

Questions of interest to students on the topic were answered at the event.
