 
                    
                                        Baku Engineering University (BEU) has held a meeting with its students and staff members who are Karabakh War participants as well as members of martyrs' families.
Speaking after honoring the blessed memory of our martyrs, BMU Rector Yagub Piriyev noted that the meeting coincides with the eve of the fifth anniversary of the Victory, and that the 44-day Patriotic War was a triumph of the unity of the Azerbaijani people, the political will of our state, and the strength of our army. The Rector emphasized that thanks to the far-sighted policy, wise leadership, diplomatic skill, and iron will of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan wrote one of the most glorious pages in our history, and our territories that had been under occupation for many years were liberated. Stating that this Victory is not only a military-political but also a national-spiritual triumph, Yagub Piriyev stressed that the Victory achieved through the blood of our martyrs, the sacrifice of our veterans, and the unwavering will of our people is a symbol of heroism of modern Azerbaijan. Recalling that the state implements extensive social programs for martyrs' families and war participants, the Rector said that individuals from this category studying and working at the university are always at the center of attention. Adding that the purpose of the meeting is also to listen to their opinions and concerns, Yagub Piriyev stated that the university always stands by war participants and martyrs' families, and that support will continue to be provided to them in their education and activities.
Subsequently, Mikayil Zeynalov, BMU Vice-Rector for Financial and Economic Affairs, who participated in the Karabakh War, spoke by referring to the history of the conflict, sharing combat memories, and also discussing the state care shown to war participants and martyrs' families.
BEU fourth-year student Aysel Manafova, spouse of martyr Osman Manafov, stated in her remarks that such meetings once again confirm that martyrs' families and veterans are in the focus of society's attention. She expressed her gratitude to the university leadership for the attention and respect shown, emphasizing that keeping the name of martyrs held high carries great moral responsibility for young people.
During the meeting, students and staff members who are Patriotic War participants voiced certain proposals. The Rector listened to them attentively and gave appropriate instructions regarding the resolution of the issues raised.
