BEU hosts holiday event entitled "Our national solidarity - our eternal independence”

Baku Engineering University (BEU) hosted an event entitled "Our national solidarity - our eternal independence" on the occasion of December 31 - World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year.

After the National Anthem of Azerbaijan had been played, the Rector of BEU, Professor Havar Mammadov said that the idea of unity of World Azerbaijanis was put forward by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev on December 16, 1991, when he was the chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and added that it was proposed to mark December 31 as the Solidarity and Unity Day of World Azerbaijanis. The Rector reminded that the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day was founded by the Decree signed by the National Leader as the President of Azerbaijan in 1993, the first Congress of World Azerbaijanis was held in 2001 on the initiative of the National Leader, and the State Committee on Work with Diaspora was established the following year.

Noting that Solidarity Day is a holiday of all Azerbaijanis, whose number exceeds 50 million in the world, the Rector emphasized that in 2021, our compatriots for the first time proudly celebrated the 30th anniversary of the restoration of our independence as representatives of the victorious country. Touching upon that the Azerbaijani people showed real unity and solidarity in the 44-day war, Havar Mammadov said that today every citizen and compatriot living abroad proudly emphasizes having the state of Azerbaijan that lived its most powerful period in the history as the children of a victorious people. 

The rector enumerated the important steps taken to further strengthen our historic victory in the international arena under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in 2021 which is about to end expressed his confidence that after glorious victory of Azerbaijan, our state has carried out great construction works in the liberated lands at its own expense, and 2022 will go down in history as the year of rapid restoration of our native Karabakh. 

Speaking about the innovations at BEU during the year, Havar Mammadov congratulated the University staff and students on the upcoming holiday and conveyed his best wishes to them.

Then the event continued with the feature part. Under the organization of Division of Creative Arts, songs were performed by students, and various scenes and dances were demonstrated.
