A career festival called “CareerFest BEU 2024” has been organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU). The festival, which is open to students and graduates of all higher education institutions of Azerbaijan, presented more than 1,000 active vacancies and internship programs from 104 reputable companies. The event was attended by leaders of the State Employment Agency, the Education Development Fund, the Education Student Loan Fund and other organizations. Before the event, the guests laid flowers in front of the bust of Heydar Aliyev in the university building, expressing their deep respect and admiration for the unforgettable memory of the Great Leader.
Speaking at the opening of the festival supported by the student organization "One Volunter", BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev drew attention to the important measures taken by the state to ensure youth employment, noting that the state programs approved by President Ilham Aliyev for this purpose were successfully implemented.
Emphasizing the importance of the career festival for students and graduates, the rector said that such events play an important role in obtaining information about the current labor market demand, as well as job and internship opportunities, and establishing direct communication with human resources specialists of various companies. The rector spoke about the work done by the BEU Department on work with enterprises and career to help graduates build successful careers in their specialties, including planned innovations, specialties taught at the university, and touched upon relevant statistical indicators. Stating that BEU has established close cooperation with state and private enterprises operating in our country, Yagub Piriyev mentioned that career events that are useful for students and graduates, as well as employers, will be continued. Noting that the “CareerFest BEU 2024”, which is held in an open-air environment and attracts great interest, differs from traditional labor fairs in its features, the rector said that the learning interests of modern youth were taken into account during the organization of the festival and called on young people to use the opportunities created by the festival and be active.
Wishing success to the work of the career festival and expressing gratitude for organizing such an event, Mustafa Abbasbeyli, Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency, provided information about the multifaceted measures taken by the institution he represents to ensure employment of the population during the year. Stating that very serious transformations are taking place in the labor market today and approaches are changing, Mustafa Abbasbeyli conveyed his recommendations to students and graduates on adapting to these changes. In this regard, highlighting the strategic importance of the activities of career centers at universities, the Chairman of the Board noted that the State Employment Agency has formed standards for the development of these centers and more serious work with students and graduates, and this has already been applied in many universities. Mustafa Abbasbeyli spoke in his speech about other work done regarding the activity of university graduates in the labor market, and the creation of an employment rating platform. The head of the Agency emphasized the importance of taking advantage of the advantages and wide-ranging analysis capabilities of this platform, highlighting the responsibilities of students and graduates to be ready for the challenges of the labor market.
Elnur Nasibov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Education Development Foundation, noted that one of the main indicators of the success of an educational institution is the level of demand for its graduates in the labor market. He added that many employers attended today's career festival, which is an indicator of the high appreciation of higher education provided at BEU. Noting the Foundation's various projects in other areas, including the successful career of students, Elnur Nasibov touched upon that it is important to further strengthen relations between entrepreneurs and higher education institutions. Advising students and graduates not to be satisfied with just education and to constantly work on themselves, the Chairman of the Foundation expressed his belief that job seekers will find a decent job at the career festival.
Later, the chairman of the Association of Small and Medium-sized Business Entities and Clubs Nigar Alasgarova, chairman of the board of directors of the Azerbaijan Corporate Businessmen's Union Shirin Sharifov, and Ruslan Osmanli, human resources coordinator of "Norm" OJSC, spoke at the festival. The speeches spoke about the role of the career festival, which creates favorable opportunities for establishing direct communication with employers, as well as the importance of expanding cooperation between higher education institutions and industrial enterprises.
Afterwards, the stands displayed at the exhibition were inspected.
More than 2,500 graduates and students from other universities registered, and a total of about 5,000 participants attended the career festival, which organized interactive activities, games, and fun experiments, and presented musical numbers performed by famous singers.
