The award ceremony for the winners of the sports tournament organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU) on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the historic Victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War has been held.

Speaking at the event, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev called the magnificent Victory achieved in the Patriotic War a brilliant result of our people's unity, solidarity, and the far-sighted policy of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that this Victory once again demonstrated the high patriotic spirit and loyalty to the state of Azerbaijani youth.

The rector emphasized that such events organized for staff and students at BEU serve both the physical and spiritual development of young people. Adding to his remarks that the main purpose of the sports tournament was to keep alive the spirit of solidarity, friendship and Victory in the university community, as well as to contribute to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among young people, Yagub Piriyev extended his warmest congratulations to the winners and wished them greater success in their future endeavors.

It was reported at the event that in the competition, organized jointly by the BEU Trade Union Committee, Sports Club, and Student Trade Union Committee and lasting until October 31, staff and students competed in chess, checkers, as well as football.

Speakers emphasized that such tournaments serve to foster solidarity, friendship and a healthy competitive environment among students and staff.

At the end, diplomas and awards were presented to the winners.
