Seminar on "Cybersecurity and Information Security" Held at BEU

A seminar on "Cybersecurity and Information Security" has been held for students at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

The event took place within the framework of the project "Cooperation with Transnational Internet Corporations in Combating Hybrid Threats," implemented by the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Organizations Association (ACOA) with financial support from the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations.

Opening the seminar with introductory remarks, Vagif Gasimov, Dean of BEU's Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies, spoke about the relevance of the topic in the modern era. He noted that information security is an integral part of both individual protection and the country's defense system. It was also emphasized that such events are held regularly within the faculty to raise awareness and enhance students' knowledge.

ACOA Secretary General Fidan Ahmadova provided brief information about the association's goals, areas of activity, and implemented projects. She highlighted the importance of establishing a cybersecurity ecosystem in the country, attracting young people to this field, and enhancing their knowledge. At the same time, she encouraged students to actively participate in "Cyber Clubs," to strengthen their knowledge with practical experience, and to develop as professionals in the field of cybersecurity in the future.

Subsequently, ACOA experts Rashad Aliyev and Lala Karimova delivered presentations on the topic. The presentations addressed information on the fundamental principles of cybersecurity, protection of personal data, information threats on social networks, and ways to combat hybrid threats. During the presentations, practical examples, real cyberattack scenarios, and methods of preventing them were demonstrated to participants.

During the interactive seminar, participants raised various practical questions related to cybersecurity and held discussions with experts. Students were engaged in analyzing situations based on real cyberattack examples and received recommendations on data protection and secure behavior practices.
