The next meeting of the Scientific Council has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU). At the meeting, Rector, Professor Havar Mammadov stressed that the steps taken under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev to strengthen the social welfare of the population were consistent. The Rector said that the additional income received as a result of economic reforms in recent years was directed to the growth of salaries and other social benefits. This year, the salaries of our citizens working in all spheres, as well as the minimum wage and the minimum pension were increased in two stages. Moreover, the salaries of scientists, especially teachers, increased significantly.

       Later, the meeting decided to increase the salaries of BEU employees from September 1 this year. The decision was made taking into account the existing financial resources of the University, in particular, the fact that BEU was one of the universities with the highest salary system among Azerbaijani universities.

     The salary increase is a continuation of the measures taken within the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 10, 2010 "On the introduction of a new funding mechanism in higher education institutions and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences at the master's level". Thus, relevant decisions were made to increase the number of students enrolled by the state order and the cost of education allocated to them beginning from the new academic year. In accordance with the decisions, the amount of tuition fees per student has increased by 30 % on average on the master’s degree of various state-ordered specialties in higher education institutions and on the master’s degree and residency at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences since September 1, 2019.

        Moreover, the meeting decided to consider the issue of increasing salaries in the future, taking into account the financial capabilities of the University.

   At the end, Rector H.Mammadov thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the continuous steps taken to improve their social protection on behalf of the academic staff and employees of the University.
