BEU organizes event on “Read, Create, Be Inspired!”

A meeting of students with the Secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union for International Relations and Translation, poet, translator Selim Babullaoglu, the head of the “Strauss” publishing house Ilkin Abdulla, and the head and founder of the “Santiago” book club Agil Rustamov has been organized by the “Book Club” under the Student Trade Union Committee at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

It was stated at the event on the theme “Read, Create, Be Inspired!” that the purpose of the meeting was to draw attention to the impact of literature on human life and its importance in shaping worldviews, to create interest in literature among young people, to form a reading culture, and to make reading a way of life for them.

Speaking to the students, poet S.Babullaoglu expressed his satisfaction with being a guest of the first meeting organized by the club and shared the history of his love of literature with the young people. He emphasized that his passion for reading books first emerged in childhood, and that he was especially interested in picture books because they required thinking, and noted the impact of literature on a person's imagination, the values ​​​​instilled by the content of each book, and called on young people to read, first of all, folklore that teaches our national language, and then poetry that beautifully expresses emotions and has a positive impact on human morality.

Then, the head of the "Strauss" publishing house, I. Abdulla, drew attention to the fact that the goal of creating a publishing house is to promote literature and strengthen the culture of reading. They attach special importance to examples of modern world literature, and that about 30 such works have been published so far. Pointing out that book clubs are the best platform for discussing novels and stories, I. Abdulla added that these clubs create a passion for literature and form qualified readers.

The head and founder of the “Santiago” book club, A. Rustamov, explained how the book changed his life and influenced the formation of his character, and emphasized the importance of the literature discussions organized in the club he created in helping young people spend their free time effectively and share their thoughts. He noted that every literature lover is not only a disciplined book reader, but also a literature promoter.
