A large number of young people from our country participated as volunteers in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku. Among them were students from Baku Engineering University (BEU).
Gunel Mammadli, a 4th-year student of the Chemistry and Biology Education Department of BEU, shared her impressions of the already completed international event with us.
G.Mammadli noted that she was extremely happy when she was selected as a “Protocol Volunteer”, because it meant being a part of a prestigious international session. As she emphasized, holding COP29 in Azerbaijan was based on trust in our country and respect for the values of our people, and knowing this made her feel proud, just like every young person.
Gunel believes that by volunteering at the global climate conference, she not only helped with technical issues, but also learned more deeply that COP29 is a platform where all countries jointly sound the alarm to protect the world from environmental threats and seek equal solutions in the fight against the consequences of climate change. Moreover, emphasizing that meeting representatives of different countries at this session, getting to know their faces, communicating with some of them episodically and hearing their positive opinions about our country created wonderful and different impressions, BEU student mentioned that she gained a lot by being a volunteer at a major event.
