Baku Engineering University (BEU), Education Development Fund (EDF) and Education Quality Assurance Agency (EQAA) have signed a cooperation agreement "On the organization of the work of encouraging the university's scientific and pedagogical staff members and students to take the IELTS exam".
The document signed by BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev, EDF Board Chairman Elnur Nasibov and EQAA Board Chairman Tural Ahmadov aims to strengthen the formation of human capital provided for in the Action Plan of the higher educational institution for the current year.
The agreement includes tripartite cooperation within the framework of supporting the activity of creating favorable conditions for the scientific-pedagogical staff and students to master the English language.
According to the document, the number of exam participants will be determined as part of the promotional activities to be carried out in the higher educational institution in order to increase the skills in the mentioned direction, and each participant will be given the chance to apply only once. Fees for the exam of the academic staff members and students who scored a high score in the IELTS exam and achieved a successful result will be covered by EDF.
Appreciating the mutual benefits of the agreement and the contribution it will make in the field of raising the professional level of personnel, Rector Yagub Piriyev noted that measures in this direction are also included in the Strategic Development Program (SDP) of the university being prepared. The rector informed the guests in detail about the mission and vision of the higher educational institution, development goals, and the fulfillment of the goals set there.
Stating that the agreement is part of the "IELTS exam promotion" project, EDF Board Chairman Elnur Nasibov congratulated BEU on becoming the 8th university to join this project among higher education institutions. Talking about the advantages of the project and expected positive results, the chairman spoke about the fund's general activities, strategic goals, plans and objectives, next projects and initiatives, and also expressed his belief that BEU will be a close participant in this process.
Drawing attention to the importance of IELTS in the globalized educational environment, as well as at the academic level, the Chairman of the Board of EQAA Tural Ahmadov emphasized that this step can open new directions in the future activities of students and teachers.
The importance of implementing various projects on strengthening the language skills of the academic staff and students, especially improving the English language, the directions of future cooperation were discussed at the event. The positive impact of these competences and skills on scientific-research activities, writing scientific articles, opening the way for students and teachers to actively participate in international platforms, in the exchange of experience on academic projects, as a result, the role of the higher education institution in determining the reputation in the ratings were noted.
