Students, led by BEU teachers, succeed

Baku Engineering University (BEU) has succeeded in the final stage of the X Republican Competition "Scientists of Tomorrow".

As a result of the scientific guidance of Rakib Efendiyev, Head of the Mathematics Department of BEU and Gunesh Khankishiyeva, a final year student of the Education Faculty majoring in "Mathematics Education", the 9th grade students of the "Young Talents" Lyceum under BSU Ismayilova Ayan Fakhri gizi Novruzov Murad Fazil oglu was awarded the second place in the "Mathematics" category with the project "Road from Koingsberg Bridges to Covid-19". The project was based on the wider application of the Graph theory in our country, which had an interesting history. The importance of Graph theory which had a wide field of application in the study of Covid-19 which was a topical issue today and creative ideas for some problems in the field of medicine were put forward.

Moreover, the project "Mathematical model of the legal system" by 11th grade students Baku European Lyceum Hajili Javid Rauf oglu and Mammadli Asma Mubariz gizi and the project "New relations in the environment" by 9th grade student of the Lyceum was awarded the 3rd place under the guidance of Bahman Mammadov, head teacher of Mathematics and Informatics Department of the Education Faculty of BEU. The first project examined the relationship between law and mathematics, and the second project presented a new inequality in accordance with the relationship between the radii of the touching circles.  

It should be noted that high school students participate in the republican competition "Scientists of Tomorrow", which has been held since 2012, under the guidance of BEU teachers every year. The competition is held within the framework of ISEF - International Science and Engineering Exhibition. The purpose of the competition is to involve students in grades IX-XI of general education institutions in our country in scientific research, stimulate their scientific and creative activities, identify talented students who are interested in scientific research, as well as to send students with high research results to Intel ISEF - International Science and Engineering Fair in the United States. Evaluation in the competition is carried out in 8 categories (mathematics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, biology, medicine and health, ecology and environmental management, engineering, computer science).

It should be noted that the final stage of the competition was held online in February this year.
