On the occasion of February 2 - Youth Day, Baku Engineering University (BEU) Rector Yagub Piriyev has met with a group of students who distinguished themselves in the public and social life of the higher education institution.
At the meeting, the rector spoke about the youth policy, which was founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and is currently being successfully implemented, and which constitutes a priority line in the purposeful development of Azerbaijan, as well as about the support and care provided by the state for the comprehensive development of young people and their active participation in all spheres of society. Emphasizing that the foundation for ensuring the intellectual potential of our country and the formation of a strong personnel policy in accordance with national interests was laid by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the rector noted that one of the far-sighted steps taken by the Great Leader after coming to power in 1969 was to lay the foundation for an important educational tradition such as the practice of sending Azerbaijani youth to prestigious universities abroad.
Stating that this tradition is currently being continued by President Ilham Aliyev in accordance with the challenges of the new era, and numerous state programs have been adopted and implemented, the rector mentioned that the "State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System for 2019-2023" also plays an important role in strengthening the human resources potential of our country. He noted that in accordance with the program, 5 international dual degree programs are being implemented with leading universities in the world, and one of them is the dual degree program implemented between BEU and Inha University of the Republic of South Korea.
Noting that the great attention and high trust of the President Ilham Aliyev in young people, and other steps taken in this direction, the rector also emphasized that BEU graduates were among those awarded under the Decree “On the Awarding of Presidential Awards for Youth in 2024” signed by our head of state the other day.
Pointing out that in addition to great attention to education, Azerbaijani youth have always been raised in the spirit of patriotism, statehood, and respect for national customs and traditions, as well as universal values, Yagub Piriyev added that the whole world witnessed the formation of this highly qualified youth in independent Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War.
In his speech, the rector said that there are only a few days left for the early presidential elections, stating that for the first time in Azerbaijan, which has fully restored its sovereignty, polling stations will operate in all territories, and this will become a great historical event, especially in the memory of students. Advising students to be active in the elections, Yagub Piriyev expressed his confidence that all young people, like every Azerbaijani, will unite around the Leader, who made us witnesses of the Glorious Victory and proud citizens of a free country, fulfilling the sacred dream of the Great Leader.
Later, the rector, who was closely interested in the general opinions and concerns of the students, as well as the results of the winter exam session that had just ended, wished each of them success in their future activities. Drawing attention to the continuous work carried out at the university to realize the intellectual potential of the new generation, the rector spoke about the work to be done to identify talented, creative young people in search of science and innovation, and to further develop their abilities.
The event concluded with the presentation of honorary certificates to BEU students who were distinguished for their activity in the public and social life of the university.
