Baku Engineering University (BEU) has hosted the semifinal round of the "Republican Subject Olympiad" in Informatics for the lower age group. 79 students (9th grade) from secondary schools took part in the competition.

The competition was organized according to the rules of IOI (International Informatics Olympiad). Students were instructed to solve 5 algorithmic problems in 4 hours (to develop a program) and to test them with an automatic assessment system.

It should be noted that 71 students (10th and 11th grades) in the upper age group competed at the same time at ADA University.
