6 specialties of BEU undergo international accreditation

A meeting has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) with a commission consisting of experts from the international accreditation agency IAAR (Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating).

The visit of IAAR experts to BEU (October 6-8) aims to assess the compliance of educational programs in two clusters, which include 6 bachelor's degree specialties ("Information Security", "Computer Engineering", "Information Technologies", "Chemical Engineering", "Mechanical Engineering", "Electrical and Electronics Engineering") with international standards. The experts evaluate the programs in the mentioned specialties in accordance with the IAAR Standards and Guidelines for the International Accreditation of Foreign Educational Organizations and Educational Programmes (based on ESG).

BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev noted that improving the quality of education and conducting international accreditation are among the main goals of the university's Strategic Development Plan covering 2025-2030. Drawing attention to the importance of accreditation, the rector emphasized that this process is of great importance in terms of ensuring compliance of education and scientific activities with global standards, increasing the international competitiveness of students and graduates, expanding education and career opportunities abroad, as well as strengthening the university's international cooperation. It was mentioned that accreditation also promotes the sustainable development of universities and improving the quality of education. Yagub Piriyev also drew attention to the work done at BEU in recent years in the fields of updating educational programs, strengthening academic staff, creating modern laboratories, implementing international dual degree programs, implementing teacher-student exchange, scientific research, innovation activities, and quality assurance. BEU's progress in international rankings and its entry into the TOP 1000 of world universities in the QS ranking were noted, and confidence was expressed that successful accreditation process would play an important role in the higher education institution achieving greater success.

Expressing his gratitude to the commission for their work in the accreditation, Yagub Piriyev added that the experts would continue to be provided with all the necessary information to complete the process.

The members of the commission expressed their gratitude for the conditions created for them during their stay at BEU and shared their initial impressions about the meetings they had held over the past two days and the information provided to them. The presence of modern laboratories, the Technopark at BEU, the effective organization of relations with industrial enterprises, including digitalization work, existing electronic systems, scientific research opportunities and the student-oriented management model were highly appreciated.

The questions of the commission were answered at the meeting, and an exchange of views was held on the successful completion of the initial stage of the accreditation process.

Finally, the delegation was presented with commemorative gifts from BEU.
