Department of Azerbaijani Language and Pedagogy of the Education Faculty has organized a scientific-theoretical seminar dedicated to the International Mother Language Day on February 21 at Baku Engineering University (BEU). 

Elchin Suleymanov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of the university, noted the measures and programs implemented by the state in order to protect the purity of the Azerbaijani language.

The Dean of the Faculty Elshad Abdullayev shared his ideas about the essence of the seminar and the preservation of our language with the participants of the event.

Tarana Hajiyeva, head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Pedagogy, emphasized the historical event that led to the establishment of the International Mother Language Day, which is celebrated every year around the world.

Informing the seminar participants in detail about the historical and political stages that changed the attitude towards the Azerbaijani language, including the activity of thinking scientists for the survival of our language, T.Hajiyeva pointed out the attitude towards our language in the conditions of globalization, the steps taken for its protection and development. The head of the department also paid attention to the problems related to the violation of the norms and rules of the literary language, clarifying the accent and pronunciation processes, especially thanks to the penetration of loanwords words in our language.

In his speech, Akif Huseynov, professor of the mentioned department, expressed his views on preventing violations of literary language norms and further improving the use of the state language.

The seminar ended with discussions on the topic.
