A scientific seminar "Women's rights in Islam" has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU).
Giving a presentation on the topic, Humeyra Mustafayeva, head of the Department of Social Sciences of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction, emphasized the salient points regarding the approach to women's rights in Islam and the view of women in general. Touching upon the fundamentals and main motives of the Islamic religion, the head of the department explained women's rights with reference to the work "Women according to Islam and in Islam" by Ahmed Bey Agaoglu, a well-known figure of Azerbaijan and the Turkic world, one of the phenomenal personalities.
In addition to equality in Islam, which embodies high moral values, the speaker also talked about the principles of justice, and issues such as Eastern women in the Middle Ages, as well as women's images in the works of Nizami Ganjavi.
Humeyra Mustafayeva brought to attention the large-scale works carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on the restoration of religious monuments and mosques under the leadership of the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, who provides comprehensive support for the development of education in the country.
Later, Gafar Ojagli, associate professor of the Department of Social Sciences, gave a speech. In the report, the injustices against women throughout history, violence against women, approaches to women's rights in pre-Islamic religions, and attitudes towards women in various ancient beliefs are discussed.
The seminar continued with discussions.
