Scientific seminar held for students at BEU

A scientific seminar for students on the topic of “International academic writing standards and optimal scientific research methods” has been organized by the Azerbaijani Language and Pedagogy Department at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

Delivering a report at the seminar, head of the department Tarana Hajiyeva provided information about the preparation of a scientific article, its different principles, and the factors that necessitate its writing. Touching upon the content and form features of modern scientific articles and classical scientific articles, the head of the department drew attention to the differences that have emerged between them and new writing requirements. The report provided necessary information on how to develop an idea, conduct analysis and present the results, use citations correctly, avoid plagiarism, when preparing scientific articles.

Later, Nargiz Dashzarli, a first-year student of the “Physics” specialty, Zulaya Mahmudova, a third-year student of the “Computer Science” specialty, and Intigam Bashirov, a second-year student of the “Accounting” specialty, spoke about their successes in writing scientific articles thanks to the teaching of the subject of business and academic communication in Azerbaijani. It was noted that the knowledge and skills instilled by the subject, along with academic communication skills, form the characteristics of writing scientific articles and conducting research. As a result, students, with the support of their subject teachers, speak at various seminars with scientific articles prepared by them, and the articles they write are sent to conferences of young researchers, including published in scientific journals.

The seminar also highlighted the scientific research activities of Tabriz Latifov, a third-year student of the “Computer Engineering” specialty, Zeynab Gasimzade, a first-year student of the “Architecture” specialty, and Esmira Ibrahimova, a second-year student of the “Business Management” specialty, and their potential and achievements in the field of scientific articles.
