Rector meets with representatives of Beijing University of Chemical Technology

Baku Engineering University (BEU) Rector Yagub Piriyev has met with a delegation from Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT).

Welcoming the guests, the rector positively assessed the establishment of fruitful relations between the two universities. Sharing his views on a number of points arising from the double degree agreement signed between BEU and BUCT on the basis of the 2+2 model in Chemical, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering, the rector noted that this agreement serves to share the experiences of educational institutions and train talented young people in innovation. Drawing attention to the friendly and strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and China, the rector recalled that the Joint Statement signed by President Ilham Aliyev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping envisaged expanding cooperation in the field of education. Moreover, he emphasized that the cooperation initiated between the two universities would contribute to expanding relations in the field of education. Touching upon the achievements of BEU as a young university, Yagub Piriyev mentioned that the higher education institution was included in the first TOP 1000 in the new ranking list of world universities (QS World University Rankings 2026) by moving up 550 places.

The meeting discussed the discussions held with the heads of 5 Chinese higher education institutions within the framework of the "Global Sustainable Development Congress" held in Istanbul last week. It was noted that during the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, the double degree program to be implemented by BEU and BUCT this year was also in the spotlight and the establishment of such a program in a short time was appreciated.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Li Qifang, Chairman of the BUCT School of International Education, pointed out that they were visiting Azerbaijan for the first time, sharing his pleasant impressions of Baku. Highly appreciating the cooperation established with BEU, he touched upon their interest in further developing relations.

The meeting exchanged views on issues arising from the double degree program.
