Rector of Baku Engineering University (BEU), professor Havar Mammadov has met with the representatives of Independent Agency For Accreditation and Rating - IAAR.
At the meeting, Havar Mammadov noted that BEU was already among the leading higher education institutions of the country, and its activities were based on the further expansion of international relations and the application of modern standards. Rector provided the guests with detailed information about the BEU modern material and technical base, an electronic learning environment, high-quality education, the implementation of a dual degree program between BEU and Inha University of Korea, and etc.
Emphasizing the measures taken to ensure the quality of education at the university, the Rector spoke about the interest of BEU in international accreditation and its readiness for these procedures. Havar Mammadov highlighted the importance of the international accreditation process, stressing its advantages for higher education institutions (increasing the quality of education, international reputation, admission of foreign students, recognition of diplomas in foreign countries, and etc.).
The consultant of IAAR, professor Olga Yanovskaya touched upon the necessary information about the activities of the organization, she represented. She pointed out that IAAR was established in 2011 as a leading international accreditation agency for quality assurance in education. Furthermore, the agency is included in the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR), and is a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).
Stating the main principles of international accreditation, O. Yanovskaya said that this was the most widespread and effective model in the world for ensuring the quality of education. Regarding the competitive advantages of accreditation, the representative of IAAR emphasized the wide opportunities it provided to universities, including international recognition of the qualification given by the higher education institution as a confirmation of the provision of high-quality education and services, the expansion of opportunities for integration into the global education space, and the increase in the reputation of universities in the international learning environment.
Expressing the desire of BEU teachers to participate in the seminars organized by the Agency, O.Yanovskaya pointed out that the participants of the seminar, who completed the training, could be included in the base of the institution as international experts on accreditation.
Speaking at the event, Timur Kanapyanov, Deputy General Director for International Cooperation at IAAR, Natig Aliyev, Head of the Test Development Department mentioned the importance of international accreditation against the background of global realities.
The event ended with answering the questions of teachers regarding the main principles and stages of international accreditation and mutual exchange of ideas.
