"IArcSAS" 2nd International Architectural Sciences and Applicantions Symposium starts at BEU

The hybrid symposium was supported by the Institute of Economic Development and Social Researches (İKSAD), uniting Türkiye, Japan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan in the fields of pedagogy, research, and public programming, Technic and Polytechnic Research, Development, and Implementation Association, Ankara, Türkiye (TP.RDiA), Design and Planning Accreditation Association (TAPLAK), Ankara, Türkiye, Sekizgen Academy, Netcad Software Company, Türkiye, Chamber of Architects Isparta Representative, and was organized by Journal of Architectural Sciences and Applications, Türkiye. "IArcSAS" is an international level platform organized for the purpose of presenting advanced researches in the field of architectural sciences, share7 mutual experiences.

President of the Organizing Board (IArcSAS2022) and Chief Editor, Journal of Architectural Sciences and Applications, professor Atila Gül spoke about the importance of the symposium in his opening speech. He noted that the changes occurring as a result of technological development and innovations in the 21st century brought up the problems of urbanization and settlement, which, in turn, imposed great obligations on the field of architecture. Drawing attention to the importance of mutual experience exchange in order to solve the current issues, Atila Gül emphasized the participation of Türkiye, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Iran, Israel, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Egypt, Ethiopia, Finland, Georgia, Indonesia, India, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Portugal, Philippines, Romania, Serbia, South Africa and expressed his confidence that this participation would benefit and contribute to the work of "IArcSAS" in general.

Later, the rector of BEU, professor Havar Mammadov made a speech. Providing the guests with detailed information about the historical development path of Azerbaijan, including the ancient Eastern architecture, the rector brought to the attention the important place of our architecture in the treasure of world architecture. Havar Mammadov touched upon Icherisheher, our national treasury based on a hundred years of history, Palace of The Shirvanshahs, which embodied the medieval city culture, the oldest settlements of Gobustan and other examples of our cultural heritage, stressing that as a symbol of constant renewal, rare architectural monuments of modern style were added to the ranks of buildings built on the basis of the synthesis of European and Eastern architecture in Baku, thereby significant contributions were made to the development of Azerbaijan, which was advancing confidently on the path of great construction, and to the restoration and preservation of our historical and cultural heritage for future generations. Pointing out our historical-architectural monuments subjected to Armenian vandalism, the rector evaluated the initiation of concrete works for the restoration and conservation of archaeological, cultural and religious monuments in territories liberated from the occupation under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, and the construction of new buildings based on modern architectural style in those areas as our next achievements.

In his speech, Havar Mammadov also touched upon the work done at BEU for the training future architects, and the successful activity of Faculty of Architecture and Construction of the university in this direction. The rector concluded his speech by wishing success to the work of the symposium, expressing his hope  that BEU graduates would contribute to the history of Azerbaijan architecture as future specialists.

Afterwards, President of Technic and Polytechnic Research, Development, and Implementation Association, Ankara, Turkey (TP.RDiA), Professor Shirin Gülcen Eren, Head of Chamber of Architects Isparta Representative, Chief Architect Caner Ataseven, Dean of Faculty of Architecture of Baku Engineering University Afar Alifov, Board Member of the Design and Planning Accreditation Association (TAPLAK), professor Shukran Shahin, IKSAD chief representative for Azerbaijan Alvan Jafarov, representative of Netcad Software Company Orkhan Hajiyev expressed their views on current problems of architecture and solutions.

The symposium continued with listening to other reports.

The international meeting was attended by the representatives of BEU, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, University of Montenegro, University of Warsaw, Poland, Onsekiz Mart University, Türkiye, Ege University, Eskişehir Technical University, Gazi University, Istanbul Okan University, Karadeniz Technical University, İzmir University of Economics, Konya Necmettin Erbakan Universiteti, Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University.

About 200 reports from about 100 universities of 24 countries were included in the symposium program consisting of 37 sessions. The topics from many fields, as well as reports covering the directions of planning, design, sociology, tourism, climate change, smart and ecological cities, technology, the future of architectural sciences, economics, and more will be heard at the event. The reports will be published published in "e-Symposium Book", a number of scientific journals, including "Journal of Architectural Sciences and Applications", "Journal of Interior Architecture and Academy", "Journal of Spatial Planning and Design", Turkish Journal of Landscape Research, etc.

"IArcSAS" 2nd International Architectural Sciences and Applications Symposium will conclude its work on September 11.
