A cybersecurity competition “CyberCell Hackathon 2025” has been organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU) jointly with Azercell Telecom LLC.

The competition, which took place at the BEU Technopark, aimed to reveal the knowledge and skills of young people in the field of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and innovative technologies, as well as to provide them with practical experience in this area.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, BEU Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Agasi Melikov noted that training professionals in the field of cybersecurity is one of the country's strategic development priorities. He emphasized that joint initiatives of educational institutions and the business sector in this direction create new opportunities for young people.  

Dean of the Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies Vagif Gasimov pointed out the university's support for technology-oriented projects, noting that such competitions play an important role in transforming students' theoretical knowledge into practical skills.

Vusala Hasanova, Head of Talent Management and Business Partnerships at Azercell Telecom, spoke about the projects implemented by the company to support youth development and innovative initiatives.

George Held, General Director of Technology and Information of the company, touched upon the importance of teamwork, creativity and continuous learning in the field of cybersecurity.

In the technical part of the event, expert engineer Asif Ibrahimov provided participants with detailed information about the evaluation criteria and the course of the hackathon

In the first stage, teams demonstrated their knowledge and skills in the field of cybersecurity by working on various solutions. In the next stage, teams will present their innovative solutions.

Of note, more than 100 teams from across the country, and more than 300 young people in total, applied for the competition. 25 of them qualified for the final stage.

The awarding ceremony for the winners will be held on October 27 at BEU. The first place winner will receive 4,000 AZN, the second place  3,000 AZN, and the third place  2,000 AZN.
