Nikrouz Forouzandeh, a senior lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering at Baku Engineering University (BEU), has taken part in the competition "Renewed Face of Ancient Karabakh" held by the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture. Thus, according to the decision of the jury, the project presented by him together with the young architect Abdul Karimov was awarded the 3rd place for Sarijali village of Aghdam region.
The competition was organized with view of the systematic restoration of the liberated territories, and the involvement of architects and urban planners in the recontruction process in Karabakh.
The competition covered Sarijali village of Aghdam region, Horadiz village of Fuzuli region, Boyuk Marjanli village and Khudaferin settlement of Jabrayil region, Zar village of Kalbajar region, Shalva village of Lachin region. The participants presented a project of the area according to their wishes. The projects were evaluated through the analysis of the current state of the settlements, their belonging to the historical context, originality, symbolism, integrity, as well as successful and professional artistic, graphic and architectural solutions.
It should be noted that the competition was attended mainly by young professionals and a number of interesting project solutions were put forward. The winning projects will be taken into account in the reconstruction work in the villages.
