November 8 - Victory Day solemnly celebrated at BEU

A festive event dedicated to November 8 - Victory Day has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) together with the Khirdalan city territorial organization No. 40 of the New Azerbaijan Party.

The event was attended by the university's administration, teaching and student staff, members of the families of martyrs, veterans of the Patriotic War and officials.

First, the dear memory of our martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence, and after the playing of the National Anthem, a video clip entitled "History of Victory" was shown.

In his opening speech, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev congratulated the event participants on the occasion of Victory Day, noting that the martyrs who made this Victory possible for us will live forever in our hearts. The rector brought to attention that as a result of the brilliant Victory won by Azerbaijan 4 years ago, Armenian fascism was put to an end in the region, Victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev created a new reality in the region and in the world, and everyone is now reckoning with this reality. He emphasized that Azerbaijan, which demonstrated high state morality and military dignity both during the 44-day war and during anti-terrorist operations, is the main guarantor of peace, security and development in the region today. Stressing that the construction and Great Return process has begun in our lands liberated from occupation, the rector added that it is a source of pride for everyone to see the rapid revival of Karabakh and East Zangezur, and the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands.

Participating in the event, the deputy of the Milli Majlis Rizvan Nabiyev called the II Karabakh War, our victory over Armenia, the most glorious page in our recent history. Noting the political will of President Ilham Aliyev, the strength of the soldier, the capabilities of the military-industrial complex, and the diplomatic activity carried out over the years among the factors leading to victory in the war with the enemy, the deputy particularly touched upon the importance of the People-Army-Leader unity in the Victory.

Later, Khatira Ismayilova, the mother of martyr Elchin Hasanli, characterized the Victory of our people not as a 30-year struggle, 44-day war, but as a Victory of centuries. She stated that this Victory of Azerbaijan, which has written its name in history as an honorable people and state, is a consistent response to the propaganda carried out for centuries to make our national identity forgotten, and to the ideologies that have torn our lands from us from time to time. The martyr's mother called giving the life for the Motherland a great sacrifice, noting that all martyrs have risen to the peak of immortality.

Stating that the Solemn Victory was achieved with the economic and political power of our state, correct decisions, and the professionalism of the National Army, the Chairman of the NAP Absheron district organization Abbas Aliyev said in his speech that the heroism of the sons of the homeland who saved their lands from the enemy's trampling will never be erased from memory, and that this military success, which proves the power of Azerbaijan, will remain as an eternal Victory.

The festive event ended with a literary and artistic composition prepared by the university's Art Department.
