An extraordinary meeting of the Trade Union Committee (TUC) of Baku Engineering University (BEU) has been held.
In his opening speech, BEU Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations Bayram Huseynzada noted that the chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the university Shikar Gasimov resigned from his post due to his transfer to another job and the meeting would consider the issue of electing a new chairman. The Vice-Rector drew attention to the work done by the TUC in various areas, including those related to employees with a socially vulnerable situation, emphasizing that the committee's activities are generally positive.
In his speech, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Education Workers Free Trade Union Republican Committee (ATIAHI) Mirza Jafarzada provided detailed information about the directions of activity of the organization he represented and the latest innovations it has implemented. Positively evaluating the activities of the TUC, Mirza Jafarzada touched upon a number of issues related to closer cooperation between the committee and the ATIAHI.
After the speeches, Shikar Gasimov was presented with honorary certificates for his effective work on behalf of the BEU and ATIAHI administrations. In turn, Shikar Gasimov thanked the administration of both institutions for the high appreciation given to his activity.
At the meeting, the candidate of the head of the BEU Student Trade Union Committee Laman Sharifova was nominated for the position of the new chairperson. It was noted that Laman Sharifova, who was distinguished for her activity in the social and public life of the university, also successfully worked as the chair of the Student Trade Union Committee. She was elected the new chair of the TUC by the unanimous vote of the committee members.
Laman Sharifova expressed gratitude for the trust shown in her and stated that she would work diligently to adequately fulfill her duties and to organize the activities of the university's Trade Union in a more systematic manner.
