The book "Fundamentals of Logistics", authored by associate professors of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Baku Engineering University (BEU), Bakhtiyar Namazov and Rauf Mammadov has been published. The publication is the first textbook written in the Azerbaijani language for universities in the field of logistics and transport technologies.
The textbook was written to convey the theoretical and methodological foundations of logistics to Azerbaijani readers, including undergraduate and graduate students, specialists, researchers in a comprehensive, simple language, and assist them in their theoretical and practical activities.
The structure of the publication covers the main functional and integrated areas of logistics. The book consists of 10 chapters, including Conceptual Basics of Logistics, Supply Logistics, Production Logistics, Distribution Logistics, Resources in Logistics, Warehousing Logistics, Tara and Packaging in Logistics, Transport Logistics, Information Logistics, Supply Chain Management.
The textbook provided a detailed explanation of modern conceptual issues of logistics, functional areas of logistics, participants of the logistics process. Moreover, methods were described to increase the efficiency of logistics activities through the rational organization of material, financial and information flows. The book can be used by undergraduate and graduate students of higher education institutions, as well as specialists in production processes, procurement, distribution, transport, trade and other activities.
It should be noted that "Basics of Logistics" as a subject was included in the subjects block of the specialty "050658-Logistics and transport technologies" in the state standard of higher education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Furthermore, it was approved as a textbook for university students by the order of the Minister of Education dated October 21, 2019.
