Memorandum Signed between BEU and China's Tianshui Normal University

A memorandum of understanding on academic cooperation has been signed between Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Tianshui Normal University (TNU) of the People's Republic of China

The document, signed during the visit of the delegation led by TNU Rector Wang Juying to BEU, covers areas such as joint scientific activities, student-teacher exchanges, organization of dual degree programs, and joint development of academic programs.

BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev stated that the signing of the memorandum marks the opening of a new page in education between the two friendly countries. Noting that relations between Azerbaijan and China are built on the principles of friendship based on mutual trust between the leaders of the two countries—President Ilham Aliyev and President Xi Jinping—the rector emphasized that the Belt and Road Initiative and the Middle Corridor project, one of its main components, serve as an important platform for expanding economic, transport, and humanitarian cooperation between our countries. He added that in this context, the realization of the Zangezur Corridor will increase the logistic and strategic importance of the region, turning it into a vital hub connecting Asia and Europe. The rector stated that such cooperation in science and education strengthens the humanitarian and scientific dimension of the Belt and Road idea, further deepening mutual understanding, friendship, and partnership between our peoples. Yagub Piriyev, noting that partnership with China's prestigious universities has been identified as one of the priority directions in BEU's international cooperation strategy, drew attention to the mutual benefits of joint initiatives in science, technology, and innovation. Speaking about joint research, teacher and student exchanges, as well as innovative programs to be implemented within the framework of the memorandum, the rector expressed confidence that future cooperation will be successful and sustainable.

In turn, TNU Rector Wang Juying expressed confidence that joint activities will be successful and long-term. Stating that connections in the field of education are of great importance, the rector noted the significance of the cooperation memorandum signed in this regard. She stated that this memorandum will be beneficial for both parties, and important steps will be taken in mutual learning and experience exchange. She also noted that the document will serve to strengthen the bridge of friendship and cooperation not only between the two universities, but also between the Chinese and Azerbaijani peoples

Subsequently, discussions were held in a broader format regarding issues arising from the memorandum. During the discussions, presentations were made about the higher education institutions. BEU Vice-Rector for International Relations Atraba Gul provided information about the work being done to expand the university's foreign relations. The parties thoroughly reviewed issues concerning the organization of seminars and conferences, implementation of exchange and dual degree programs, as well as matters related to students and academic staff gaining practical experience in China and Azerbaijan.

Afterward, the guests became acquainted with BEU's campus and laboratories. The delegation was provided with detailed information about the university's research capabilities, technological infrastructure, and facilities created for students. The Chinese delegation highly appreciated the modern teaching environment and innovative approaches at the university.
