A meeting has been held with the first group of students studying in the People's Republic of China within the framework of the dual degree program (DDP) between Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), which began to be implemented this year.
BEU Vice-Rector for International Relations Atraba Gul attended the meeting in Beijing. During the meeting, the issues of the educational process, academic achievements of students and adaptation to the social environment were discussed.
Atraba Gul conveyed the greetings of the BEU rector to the students, emphasizing the importance of their effective use of international education opportunities. She noted that the dual degree programs implemented between BEU and foreign higher education institutions are one of the important directions of the university's internationalization strategy. In this regard, cooperation with leading universities in China is of particular importance.
At the meeting, the students shared their impressions of the educational environment and living conditions and exchanged views on their future plans. They noted that comprehensive conditions have been created for them to continue their education at a high level. It was also emphasized that the friendly and strategic partnership relations formed between Azerbaijan and China at the level of heads of state have made a significant contribution to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and science.
Of note, this program is the first dual degree program implemented at the undergraduate level between Azerbaijani and Chinese universities. Students will receive diplomas from BEU and BUCT by studying at both higher education institutions. The program, which allows for the preparation of highly qualified, competitive specialists for the international labor market, covers the specialties of chemistry, computer and mechanical engineering. According to the 2+2 model, students continue their education at BUCT after successfully completing the I and II courses at BEU. It is also planned to expand admission to the program in the coming years.
