The opening ceremony of the academic year 2019-2020 has been held at Baku Engineering University. The event was attended by academic staff of the University, parents, students, as well as head of Absheron District Executive Power Irada Gulmammadova, Member of Parliament, member of the Committee on Science and Education of Milli Majlis Sona Aliyeva and Director of Azerbaijan Scientific-Research and Design-Prospecting Power Engineering Institute, academician Arif Hashimov.

   Firstly, Rector of the University, Professor Havar Mammadov welcomed the participants on behalf of the academic staff and congratulated the students. Professor Havar Mammadov noted that educational policy of our country that laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev was successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice- President Mehriban Aliyeva.

   The rector pointed out that admission to bachelor"s and master"s degrees was high. Thus, 212 graduate and 1028 undergraduate students were admitted to the University for the academic year 2019-2020. 132 undergraduate students earned 500-600 points, while 42 students earned more than 600 points.  489 bachelor’s degree students were admitted with the state order.

    Later, the head of Absheron District Executive Power Irada Gulmammadova congratulated the lecturers and students of the University on Knowledge Day. She talked about the attention and care President Ilham Aliyev rendered towards education as a one of priority spheres in the development strategy. Moreover, Irada Gulmammadova gave detailed information about the works done in the field of education as well as about the new educational institutions.  

    Speaking at the event, Member of Parliament, member of the Committee on Science and Education of Milli Majlis Sona Aliyeva and Director of Azerbaijan Scientific-Research and Design-Prospecting Power Engineering Institute, academician Arif Hashimov emphasized the role of university in the development of youth as worthy citizens. MP Sona Aliyeva provided information on educational reforms and state programs.

   Zahra Guliyeva who got admitted to Mathematics and Informatics Education Department of Education Faculty of BEU with the highest point 666.70, as well as Hagigat Hasanzada, the parent of Hasanzada Saadat, took the floor and shared their good impressions with the participants.

   At the end of the event, presents and student cards were presented to the students, who earned high scores and were admitted to Baku Engineering University.
