A meeting with students has been organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU) with the participation of Member of Parliament Nigar Mammadova and Head of the Psychology Scientific Research Institute, Doctor of Philosophy, renowned psychologist Elnur Rustamov.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev expressed his gratitude to MP Nigar Mammadova, who initiated the meeting. The Rector noted that such events make a significant contribution to the faster adaptation of newly admitted students to university life, overcoming the difficulties they encounter, and their development.
Later, MP Nigar Mammadova spoke about the difficulties encountered during her student years, emphasizing the importance of establishing healthy communication with teachers and friends. She noted that the steps taken towards independent life begin precisely during university years, and at this stage, it is of particular importance to form an atmosphere of unity and solidarity. Stating that psychological education training is an important direction in modern times, the MP drew attention to the fact that teachers are the most correct guides for students.
The head of the Psychology Scientific Research Institute, Doctor of Philosophy Elnur Rustamov gave an extensive speech on the topic of adaptation to a new environment. The speaker mentioned in his speech that university years are one of the most dynamic and changeable periods of human life, and at this stage, students can face a number of psychological difficulties. It was emphasized that the most frequently observed situations in the adaptation process are feelings of loneliness, difficulty in establishing new friendships, academic stress and emotional concerns related to separation from family. Sharing his experience during his higher education years with the students, Elnur Rustamov gave them a number of necessary recommendations for overcoming problems.
During the meeting, which continued in an interactive format, the psychological problems faced by the students were listened to and the questions that interested them were answered.
