A group of students studying in the “Food Engineering” specialty of Baku Engineering University (BEU) have organized an infotour to the Veyseloglu Group of Companies as part of the “Food Safety Month”.
Led by Arshad Guliyev, a teacher at the BEU’s Food and Biotechnology Department, the students got to know the work process of the “Khoncha” confectionery factory and the Logistics Center of the Group of Companies. The participants of the infotour were presented with practical examples of receiving raw materials at the factory, stages from product preparation to packaging, application of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system, as well as compliance with sanitary and hygienic requirements. At the Logistics Center, during the reception of fruits and vegetables, checking the requirements of more than 40 specifications, determining the Brix degree and caliber of fruits, detecting plant diseases and other quality control procedures were visually demonstrated.
During the infotour, extensive information was provided about the protection of the cold chain, the management of products in warehouses based on the FEFO (First Expired, First Out) and FIFO (First In, First Out) principles, the SAP software applied in the warehouse, and the advantages of automating warehouse operations through this software, and questions of interest to students were answered.
