An information day about the Erasmus+ program of the European Union has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU). Representatives of the Ministry of Science and Education, National Erasmus Office in Azerbaijan and higher education institutions operating in our country took part in the event.
After the playing of the National Anthem, the dear memory of the martyrs who died for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence at the event.
Delivering the opening speech, the rector Yagub Piriyev emphasized the measures implemented in the direction of raising the higher education system to the level of international standards under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, as well as the implemented state programs.
Noting the importance of cooperation with international organizations and implemented projects for the further development of higher education, the Rector touched upon the opportunities created by the Erasmus+ program in this regard.
Rector emphasized ithat carrying out reforms in the direction of internationalization, expanding foreign relations, building new collaborations, increasing teacher-student mobility, as well as increasing reputation in the international arena and ranking in the front ranks in ranking tables is necessary for every higher education institution. Mentioning that the Erasmus+ program plays an important role in establishing relations between Azerbaijani higher education institutions and European universities, the Rector also drew attention to the importance of the program in terms of adapting education to international standards and improving the quality of research.
Recommending making the most of the opportunities of the Erasmus+ program in order to take a place in the international rankings, Yagub Piriyev added that a few days ago, along with BEU, 7 universities of our country were included in the "QS European University Rankings 2024" rankings, which is a positive event.
The rector listed the projects that won grants this year and pointed out that all these projects are important for the development of higher education and the improvement of universities in our country.
The head of the National Erasmus Office Parviz Bagirov noted the work done and the positive results achieved since the program was introduced in our country. Delivering a presentation about the main features of the Erasmus+ program (2021-2027) and the ongoing calls for proposals for proposals (CBHE, Jean Monnet, CBVET, EMJM/EMDM), P. Bagirov presented the main directions of the projects implemented within the program, according to their relevance, as well as provided extensive information about the changes and innovations made in the last year.
Vusala Gurbanova, chief advisor of the Department of Science, Higher and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Science and Education, made a presentation on the difficulties and ways to solve them in order to recognize the credits of students participating in exchange programs. In the presentation, the relevant legislative framework was brought into consideration, and recommendations were made regarding the duties of the relevant structures of higher education institutions.
At the end, the questions of the event participants were answered in detail.
