Baku Engineering University (BEU) has hosted an educational event on "Combating illicit trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors and drug addiction".

BEU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs Bayram Huseynzade informed about the measures taken by the state in the fight against drugs. He noted that for the first time, the Decree "On measures against drugs and drug trafficking" was signed by National Leader Heydar Aliyev on August 26, 1996. In his speech, the Vice-Rector also spoke about the "State Program on Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors and Drug Addiction for 2019-2024" approved by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev.

B.Huseynzade spoke about the negative effects of narcotic drugs on the human body and the serious consequences for health in the future, and called on teenagers and young people to stay away from these harmful habits. He added that one of the main steps in solving the problem was to expand propaganda and awareness-raising, and gave detailed information about preventive measures taken at the University.

Laman Sharifova, Chairman of the Student Youth Organization (SYO) and Amil Abdullayev, Chairman of the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) of the University spoke at the event.

At the end, a video about the complications of drug addiction was shown.
