Discussion of work of People's writer Anar held at BEU

 

The next event organized by the Azerbaijani Language and Pedagogy Department of Baku Engineering University (BEU) within the discussion of artistic works was dedicated to “Goz muncugu” (Amulets) narrative by the People’s writer Anar. 

Professor of the department, literary critic and critic Akif Huseynov spoke about multifaceted activities of Anar, Chairperson of the Azerbaijan Writers Union, as a writer, poet, translator, and screenwriter. Emphasizing that the writer who combines classicism and modernism occupies a special place in the development of our national literature, the professor shared his thoughts on the selection of the mentioned work, the topic and the essence of the event as a whole.

Noting that “Goz muncugu” (Amulets) was a product of thought, A.Huseynov pointed out that the story opened the way to mystical, as well as wise, artistic and philosophical thoughts. Moreover, the work, which caused special interest from this point of view, was translated into other languages and published in different countries.

In her speech, the Head of the Department Tarana Hajiyeva first drew attention to the relevant Decree of President Ilham Aliyev on measures to protect the purity of the Azerbaijani language and improve the use of the state language, as well as the important tasks included in the document. T. Hajiyeva mentioned that the protection of literary language norms and the further improvement of the use of the state language were taken as the basis of the decree. She added that in this sense, Anar's works served to protect and enrich the purity of our language, and this trend was not violated in the discussed narrative.

Stating that “Goz muncugu” (Amulets) was written on a parapsychological topic, The Head of the Department emphasized that social, domestic, religious, philosophical, artistic, aesthetic and other directions were united in the work and were valuable for readers.

Later, extensive discussions were held around the work, and the event participants shared their views on the social importance of the narrative..
