According to the agreement, BEU students majoring in Civil Engineering will have the opportunity get a scholarship for a master's degree in China
Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Qingdao University of Technology (China) have held a joint online seminar. According to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two universities on April 24, 2021, BEU students studying or graduated in Civil Engineering were given detailed information about the possibility of pursuing their master's degree with scholarship at Qingdao University of Technology in China and the required documents.
Arif Najimov, Head of the International Relations and Project Management Department of BEU, spoke about the University's foreign relations and various joint programs and projects planned in cooperation with the Qingdao University of Technology in China.
At the seminar, giving general information about the the Faculty of Architecture and Construction at BEU, the dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor Afar Alifov stressed that teaching at the faculty was conducted in Azerbaijani and English. At present, about 1,000 students study in 9 specialties at the faculty. A.Alifov noted that BEU students received master's degrees in many European countries, including Hungary, Italy and France. Emphasizing the importance of getting acquainted with Chinese technology and education system, the dean stressed the need for students to apply the acquired knowledge in Azerbaijan in the future.
BEU Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Manafaddin Namazov noted that the first sign was signed in the higher education system of Azerbaijan with the cooperation established between the two universities in these areas. He said that BEU was the first Azerbaijani higher education institution to start training specialists in civil engineering at the master's degree level with Qingdao University of Technology in China after the implementation of a dual degree program at the undergraduate level with Inha University in Korea. The vice-rector added that the established cooperation was a great opportunity, first of all, for 4th year students and graduates of BEU in Civil Engineering. Thus, there is an opportunity to continue the next stage of higher education in English at Qingdao University of Technology in China with a full or partial scholarship.
Then, the floor was given to Zaur Jafarov, who is currently studying for a master's degree in Civil Engineering at Qingdao University of Technology in China and working in the International Relations Department of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. He made a presentation and gave detailed information about the University he represented. Thus, Qingdao University of Technology was established in China in 1952 and currently provides three levels of higher education in engineering, as well as research services on the Shibei, Huangdao and Linyi campuses.
Z.Jafarov spoke about the specialties and specializations taught at the University and stressed that the program was planned full scholarship for 5 people - 100%, and partial scholarship for 5 people- 50%. He said that the documents required to benefit from the scholarship program were received through the online application form at the link provided (https://bit.ly/2Thy4wN) from May 27 to July 15 this year. Zaur Jafarov noted that if the borders were not opened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students would continue the first year of three-year education online (distance) and the remaining two years (research and production experience) in person at Qingdao University of Technology in China. Moreover, a contract will be signed with each student admitted to the master's degree, and they will have the opportunity to use all the resources as a full-fledged master's student of the university. Z.Jafarov also noted that he intended to work at Qingdao University of Technology in China for a long time and was always ready to provide all necessary technical and information support to BEU students. It was also noted at the seminar that there was no threat of the COVID-19 pandemic in China, and most residents of the Chinese city of Qingdao, where the university was located, were vaccinated, and everyone continued to live their previous lives. If the borders are opened, BEU students or graduates can come to China to study in the first year.
The documents required in online format were also presented at the event:
1) Biography (CV) - in English,
2) Academic transcript of 4-year bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (indicating the subjects and grades (ACTS)) - in English,
3) Diploma (Certificate of language and year of graduation from BEU Education Department for four years before graduation of 4th year students).
4) International English language certificate (IELTS - 5.5 points, TOEFL - 50 points) (in the absence of a certificate from the university confirming 4 years of study in English),
5) Curriculum (4 years of educational experience at BMU - activity and what education - career plans if you study in China should be written in English).
After the documents are received between the deadlines, each student will be interviewed individually (online).
