BEU Rector met with Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan

Rector of Baku Engineering University (BEU), Professor Havar Mammadov has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee.

Rector Havar Mammadov spoke about the existing relations between the two countries, emphasizing the close cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the military and political spheres. Noting that relations had been developing under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in recent years, the rector recalled that Pakistan was the second country to recognize Azerbaijan's independence and Azerbaijan's rightful position was always supported by Pakistan. Havar Mammadov stressed that the people and government of Pakistan always stood by Azerbaijan in the 44-day Patriotic War and never spared their moral support.

During the meeting, Professor Havar Mammadov briefed the ambassador on the BEU history, the existing faculties and specialties, the material and technical base and the academic staff, as well as the dormitories of the University. The Rector added that BEU was a leading higher education institution training engineers at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels of higher education. Furthermore, he touched upon that currently more than 60% of BEU students studied in English.

Underlining the international relations of the University, the Rector BEU cooperation with Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, as well as the University of Management and Technology of Pakistan. By stressing bilateral cooperation in the field of education, H.Mammadov pointed out that Pakistani students studied at BEU.

The Rector also informed the guest about the Dual Degree Program implemented between BEU and INHA University of South Korea, and denoted that the BEU-INHA Dual Degree Program conducted specialist training in 4 specialties, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering.

Ambassabor of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee thanked for the warm welcome. He spoke about the liberation of the ancient Azerbaijani lands from the occupiers and the historic victory achieved owing to the determination of President Ilham Aliyev.

Highlighting the existing relations between the two countries, Bilal Hayee stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of education, and gave the necessary information on the activities of the Pakistan Engineering Council. Expressing interest in attracting Pakistani students and professors to BEU, as well as in studying Azerbaijani students in their country, the ambassador added that he would provided support to the solution of problems that might arise during the mutually beneficial cooperation.

The meeting focused on other issues related to future cooperation.
