BEU Rector Havar Mammadov congratulates young physicists

The final stage of the creative competition of young physicists has been held among students of general education institutions and child and youth development centers under the Baku City Education Department (BCED).

    The event, organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU), was attended by Rashad Tagiyev, director of BCED, Havar Mammadov, Rector of BEU, Bayram Huseynzada, Vice-Rector of BEU, heads of departments and divisions, teachers, teams of schools that qualified for the finals and media representatives.

    First, the guests, team members and their leaders got acquainted with the auditoriums, research laboratories equipped with modern technical apparatus and devices of the University, and received detailed information about the activities of BEU and the specialties taught.

    Later, in accordance with the programs of general education schools and child and youth development centers, 13 teams completed a test task consisting of 30 questions, 2 problems and 1 practical work during 2 academic hours.

    The event dedicated to the final stage of the competition began with the sounding of the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Opening the event, BEU Rector, Professor Havar Mammadov congratulated the students who qualified for the final stage. Havar Mammadov noted that such competitions had a positive impact on increasing the knowledge and skills of students, and their motivation in training.

    Rashad Tagiyev, the director of BCED, thanked the administration and staff of BEU for the conditions created for the final stage of the competition. The head of the department said that the Ministry of Education, as well as the BCED paid special attention to the organization of competitions and knowledge contests.

    Noting that it was impossible to imagine a rapidly developing world without technology, and stressing the importance of identifying talented and capable students, Rashad Tagiyev, the director of BCED, said the competition was organized among 9th, 10th and 11th grade students in order to increase students' interest in physics, improve their theoretical and practical knowledge in this field, and identify talented students. The head of the department also noted that the implementation of practical work in the final stage of the competition was important in increasing the interest of students in research and creating conditions for students to use the research opportunities of higher education institutions.

    The teams of the secondary schools No. 85 in Surakhani district, 136 in Khazar district, 96 in Sabunchu district, 243 in Pirallahi district, 236 in Sabail district, 312 in Nizami district, 158 in Yasamal district, 240 in Nasimi district, 24 in Khatai district, 83 and 313 in Binagadi district, as well as the teams of school-lyceum No. 166 in Garadagh district and "Ecology" lyceum No. 291 in Narimanov district won the right to participate in the final stage of the competition.

    Then, certificates were presented to 39 students from 13 teams that qualified for the finals.

    It should be noted that in the final stage of the competition, each correctly answered test task will be evaluated with 1 point, and the problem and practical work will be evaluated with 5 points. The results of the competition will be analyzed by the Expert Group, and the winning teams will be awarded diplomas and prizes by the BCED.
