Yagub Piriyev, rector of Baku Engineering University, has been awarded "100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)" jubilee medal  by the relevant Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The jubilee medal was presented to the rector by the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev.

Of note, Yagub Piriyev was one of the young people sent to study outside of Azerbaijan in the 1970s and 80s at the initiative of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Automobile and Roads. He is author of 1 invention, 4 textbooks, 5 teaching aids and more than 100 scientific articles in the field of transport construction and road engineering, candidate of technical sciences. After graduating from the Institute, Y.Piriyev worked in various positions in the Ministry of Road Construction and Operation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In the following years, he worked in responsible positions as a teacher at Atatürk University of the Republic of Türkiye, department head and dean at Azerbaijan Civil Engineers University, department head and deputy chief of staff at the Ministry of Science and Education. Since 2004, he has been a full member of the International Transport Academy.

By the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was awarded the honorary title of "Emerited Teacher" and the "Progress" medal.
