Baku Engineering University (BEU) has a leading position in the country in terms of publishing activity of employees, as well as statistics on being a reviewer in prestigious scientific journals. Thus, BEU ranked second among Azerbaijani higher education institutions in terms of scientific indicators in the Publons database of the popular Web of Science portal. The fact that the University staff is a member of the editorial board of many international scientific journals with an impact factor and works as a reviewer of articles published in these journals is a great success not only for BEU, but also for Azerbaijani science. As a result of scientific activity, BEU has made significant progress in the international university rankings and is expected to soon be among the top 1,000 most reliable universities.

Scientific research is one of the most important tasks of universities, along with their teaching activities. The role of this research in the development of the country's economy is an undeniable fact. Science and innovation are among the catalysts for the country's GDP, economic growth and sustainable development and other economic indicators. The dynamics of the development of the country's science in modern times is measured by publications in various scientific databases and references to it. The statistics of these databases are also one of the important components in measuring the international ranking of universities, even the first. After the cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters), the world's largest electronic scientific-analytical database, in 2015, scientific activity in the country's universities increased significantly. In 2020, Azerbaijan maintained its leading position among the countries of the South Caucasus. In total, about 1,000 articles were published by higher education institutions in the Web of Science database. The role of BEU employees in this success is great.
