"Pi Club" operating under the Student Scientific Society (SSS) of Baku Engineering University (BEU) has organized an exhibition called "From the Visual to the Abstract" for students and schoolchildren studying in the secondary general education institution.
The exhibition was held at BEU within the framework of the "VII International Scientific Conference of Young Researchers" (April 28-29) dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Bahman Mammadov (Qudsi), the senior lecturer of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics of the Education Faculty of BEU, noted that the exhibition aimed to completely visualize mathematics in the lesson by teaching methods, complete the transition from the visual to the abstract by making mathematics tangible. Students should first see, touch and feel visuality in mathematics, and this helps them to more easily transition to abstraction and virtuality through the visualization of mathematics. In this regard, the projects displayed at the exhibition were implemented based on the principles of "eyes cannot see, ears cannot hear, dreams cannot imagine".
The projects supervised by BEU teachers were developed by students of the II, III, IV years students of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics, as well as students of the Department of Energy Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering.
The exhibition, where more than 100 projects were displayed, was met with interest and sympathy by the visitors.
