BEU hosts meeting with vice president of Springer Nature publishing house

A meeting of the academic staff with the Vice President of the Springer Nature Publishing House for Extended Eastern Europe, Aliaksandr Birukou, has been organized at Baku Engineering University (BEU).

First, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev introduced Aliaksandr Birukou, one of the heads of the world's most influential publishing house, to the meeting participants. Providing the necessary information about the guest, the Rector expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the first meeting of the Vice President of the publishing house with higher education institutions in Azerbaijan was held at BEU. Moreover, he noted the importance of the meeting in terms of expanding cooperation between the publishing house and BEU teachers.

Later, Aliaksandr Birukou presented his report on the topic “International Publishing with Springer Nature: Opportunities for Azerbaijan”. The presentation provided information about the goals and objectives of the academic publishing house “Springer”. It was noted that the publishing house operates in the direction of scientific research, wide dissemination of theoretical and applied knowledge, providing reliable, high-quality information for the academic community and the public, and delivering knowledge by publishing academic books, scientific articles, educational resources, and conference materials. The event also brought to attention that the publishing house published 300,000 books between 1815 and 2024, and that 12,000 new books are published in all disciplines every year. Information about Azerbaijani journals published in the publishing house, as well as statistics on universities and research topics of our country, was also presented, and the position of BEU in statistics was emphasized.

The presentation also stated that such an academic publishing platform provides an opportunity for scientists to develop their careers, communicate scientific contributions to the general public, and also encourages the acquisition of new knowledge and critical discussion of existing theories.

At the end of the presentation, questions of interest to the faculty were answered.
