The next meeting of the Scientific Council has been held at Baku Engineering University (BEU). Rector, Chairman of the Scientific Council Yagub Piriyev announced the issues on the agenda. Later, the “Report of the BEU Rector for the 2023/24 academic year and the first half of 2025” was heard.
The report detailed the reforms carried out at the university over the past two years, the work done to strengthen the social protection of employees and improve the quality of education, the new specialties opened, the expansion of the university’s international relations, including its progress in prestigious world rankings. Relevant indicators related to the increase in BEU’s admission plan, including the opening of 10 new specialties at the bachelor’s level in two years, and the positive dynamics of admission at all levels of education in general were brought to attention. The report also highlighted BEU's growing international reputation, dual degree programs implemented in 7 specialties with Chinese and South Korean universities, and the fact that the higher education institution has advanced 550 places in the QS ranking and entered the top 1000 in the world. The rector also touched upon the issue of graduate employment and noted that BEU is in a leading position in this area, with the graduate employment rate exceeding 65% in recent years. Providing detailed information on the achievements achieved in other areas and the main tasks ahead, Yagub Piriyev outlined perspective plans for the future development of BEU.
In accordance with the agenda, a report on the "Results of Production, Pedagogical, Scientific Research and Scientific-Pedagogical Experiments" was also presented at the meeting.
Extensive discussions were held around each report, and it was considered satisfactory, taking into account the proposals and opinions of the Council members.
Afterwards, information on the "Approval of the Work Plan of the BEU Scientific Council for the 2025-2026 Academic Year" was presented at the meeting, and the work plan was approved.
At the meeting, which continued with the discussion of current issues, Chairman Yagub Piriyev gave a number of instructions and recommendations to the heads of structures regarding the issues on the agenda.
At the end, the Chairman of the BEU Trade Union Committee Laman Sharifova was presented with an honorary decree for her effective activity in the public and social life of the university.
