Baku Engineering University (BEU) has hosted an event dedicated to Pi Day.

At the event organized by Pi Club under Student Scientific Society (SSS) of the University, Bahman Mammadov (Qudsi), a senior lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Informatics at BEU, made an opening speech and spoke about the history and significance of Pi Day, annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi) on March 14 each year. He noted that the main purpose of such an event at BEU was to further increase students' interest in mathematics, as well as to identify young talents. Emphasizing the logic competition to be held as part of the event, B.Mammadov announced the composition of the jury and wished success to the participants.

After demonstrating a video on the activities of the Pi Club, the chairperson of the club Shafag Yagubova took the floor. She stated that  the club aims to bring different people who love mathematics together, as well as to show that mathematics was not boring, but interesting and fun. Emphasizing that the club has been implementing various projects since its establishment, Sh.Yagubova brought to the attention that close cooperation was established with many universities and schools of the country. 

Later, logic cometition started with the participation of "Eureka", "Radian", "MATRIX", "Alliance", "Number 1", "Prometheus" teams. Students from BEU, Baku State University, Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Zirve Lyceum, Number 1 Training Center are presented in the teams. 

15 questions with 1, 2 and 3 points were asked in the logic competition. The "Number 1" team held the first place in the competition with 23 points.

At the end, the winners and participants were awarded certificate of appreciation and various gifts.
