The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku Engineering University (BEU) have launched an international scientific-practical conference entitled "The role of engineering in the innovative development of Azerbaijan: goals and prospects." The conference is attended by international experts, representatives of the public and private sectors, universities, as well as relevant agencies of ANAS.
BEU, Professor Havar Mammadov made an opening speech at the event, which began with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan. The rector gave a brief overview of the history of BEU, which trained specialists capable of organizing production processes and working with innovative technologies in the country's scientific-industrial enterprises. Noting that the University was established by the Order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated November 8, 2016, H.Mammadov noted that BEU had hosted 7 international conferences in a short period of time attended by about 2,000 researchers from more than 20 countries.
H.Mammadov said it was no coincidence that the international conference was dedicated to the role of engineering in the innovative development of Azerbaijan. Touching upon the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated January 10, 2019 "On Ensuring Coordination in the Field of Innovative Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan", the rector said that according to the decree, higher education institutions must contribute to the innovative development of the country.
The rector noted that due to the rapid change and development of engineering and other scientific fields in our country, as well as in the world, there was a need to apply new ideas, scientific knowledge, technology and products in various fields of production and management. He stressed the importance of the conference in terms of emphasizing the significance of innovation in the economic development of Azerbaijan and the importance of engineering sciences, effective and efficient achievement of strategic plans through the optimal use of resources in innovative management. H.Mammadov also said that the conference aimed at discussing the current situation and future trends in engineering specialties in the framework of the challenges of the 5th Industrial Revolution would yield significant results.
Professor Afgan Abdullayev, Head of the Science Sector of the Department of Science, Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Ministry of Education, said that important measures were done at BEU in all specialties, including the training of engineers for innovative development and expressed his confidence that this work would continue.
