Baku Engineering University (BEU), organized by the Society of Chemical Engineers, has held an expert meeting for students on the topic of "Renewable Energy and the Environment."
The event was conducted in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
During the meeting, Chingiz Orujov, Chief Specialist for Renewable Energy Business Development in Azerbaijan at Total Energies, spoke about the reasons behind the growing global demand for alternative energy. Extensive information was provided on recent innovations in renewable energy technologies, improvements in the efficiency of solar and wind energy, the application of floating solar systems, and their economic advantages. Additionally, energy storage systems, electricity grid transmission regulations, and the increasing demand for electric vehicles amid the expansion of alternative energy were highlighted.
Chingiz Orujov noted that wind energy solutions applied both on land and at sea, including floating and fixed platforms, are now widely used, and emphasized Total Energies' active operations in these areas.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan's wind and solar energy potential was discussed, as well as projects being implemented in the liberated territories. Several examples from international and local experience were presented, and relevant statistics and future forecasts were also brought to attention.
