Baku Engineering University (BEU) has hosted a festive event "I am proud that I am an Azerbaijani" on the occasion of December 31 - World Azerbaijani Solidarity Day and New Year.

After the National Anthem had been played, BEU Rector, Professor Havar Mammadov drew attention to the essence of December 31, emphasizing that World Azerbaijani Solidarity Day serves to further strengthen the relations of our compatriots living abroad with the independent Republic of Azerbaijan, and ensure unity and solidarity among our compatriots. The Rector spoke in detail about the important role of this holiday, which is associated with the name of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, in bringing more than 50 million Azerbaijanis living in different countries of the world together, creating unbreakable ties between them, and most importantly, strengthening the feelings of attachment to the Motherland.

Noting that owing to the independent policy of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev based on national interests and national values, Azerbaijan is developing further in 2022, and the political power and economic potential of our country is increasing day by day, Havar Mammadov mentioned that the support provided by our powerful state to our compatriots living in different countries of the world is continued.

Emphasizing that the successful development of Azerbaijan, which takes the path of progress under the leadership of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, will continue to be ensured, the Rector expressed his confidence that our country will succeed more in all spheres in 2023 when the 100th birthday of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of independent Azerbaijan is commemorated and next year will be engraved in the history as an honorary period as well.

At the end of his speech, the head of the higher education institution congratulated the university staff and students on the occasion of the upcoming holidays and conveyed his best wishes to them.

Later, the event continued with the artistic part. Under the organization of the Art Department of the university, songs were performed by students and employees, and various scenes and dances were demonstarted.
